Statement of Faith
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God. As stated in 2 Peter 1:20-21, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Also, in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
We believe that God has preserved His Word for English-speaking people in the King James Bible as stated in Luke 21:33: “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” Additionally, Acts 7:38, 1 Peter 1:23-25, Isaiah 40:8, and Matthew 24:35 support this belief in God’s preservation of Scripture.
God
We believe in the Triune God, one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:26, Isaiah 6:8).
- God the Father
God the Father is the Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1), all-powerful (Nahum 1:2-5), all-present (Psalm 139:7-12), and eternal (Revelation 1:8). He is holy (1 Peter 1:16), full of grace and mercy (Titus 2:11), and loves humanity supremely (Romans 5:8). He securely keeps all who come to Him by faith (John 10:29). - God the Son
Jesus Christ, the Son, is eternal and equal with the Father (John 1:1-2, Philippians 2:6). He humbled Himself to be born of a virgin (Luke 1:27, Luke 1:35), lived a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21), and obeyed the Father perfectly (John 8:29). Christ died for our sins (Isaiah 53:5), rose bodily from the dead on the third day (Matthew 28:6), and ascended into heaven (Acts 1:3). He intercedes for us as our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16) and will return for His saints (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). - God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He was sent by Jesus (John 15:26, John 16:7) and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:7-11). The Spirit regenerates believers (Titus 3:5), indwells them (1 Corinthians 3:16), guides them into all truth (John 16:13), empowers them to live victorious lives (Romans 8:13), and intercedes for them in prayer (Romans 8:26-27).
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26), but through willful disobedience, Adam plunged humanity into sin (Romans 5:12). Man is totally depraved and dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1), and all have sinned before a holy God (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23). Without salvation, man is eternally separated from God and condemned to eternal punishment (Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:14).
The Devil
We believe in the existence of a personal devil who was created perfect but became proud and rebellious (Ezekiel 28:14, Isaiah 14:12-14). He now opposes God’s work and deceives mankind (Genesis 3:1, 2 Corinthians 11:14), but his power is limited by God (Job 1:12). His final judgment is eternal damnation in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).
Salvation
Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone (Acts 4:12). It is offered to all (Romans 10:13) and is obtained by repentance of sin (Luke 13:3,5) and faith in Christ (Romans 10:10). Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is secured through Christ's atoning death and the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit (Romans 3:25, Titus 3:5) and is eternal (John 10:28).
Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell are literal, eternal destinations. Heaven is prepared for believers in Christ (John 14:23), and Hell is the final destination for those who reject Him (Revelation 20:14-15).
The Church
We believe the local church was established by Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry (Matthew 16:18) and is both local and visible (Matthew 18:17). The church consists of born-again believers (Acts 2:41) who are organized to carry out God’s work. Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 5:23), and it is to be self-governing, independent, and uphold the truth (1 Timothy 3:15).
Ordinances
We believe in two ordinances for the church:
A. Baptism: For believers only, symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:4).
B. The Lord’s Supper: A memorial of Christ’s sacrifice, observed with unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine (1 Corinthians 11:24-26).
Separation
We believe in a life of separation unto God and away from sin, the world, and the flesh. Believers are to live by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16, Romans 8:14) and avoid worldliness that dishonors God (1 John 2:15-17).
Evangelism
Every believer is called to be a witness for Christ (Matthew 5:16). We believe in the responsibility of all believers to share the Gospel and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:14-17).
