Good Ole' Reliable

“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served
the creature more than the Creator…” -Romans 1:25

Twenty-first century Christianity is either founded upon Bible doctrine or man’s
tradition. Much of what is referred to as religious in our world is but an updated or
refurbished pagan practice of an ancient time. But, falsehood, no matter how much
beauty it is robed in, can never pass the “truth test” that comes only from the Word of
God or even the “life test” that comes through personal experience. Every consumer
knows that when a new line of clothing hits the mainstream shopping centers,
somebody somewhere will create a similar product and sell it for less money.
Fashionable garments, footwear, cosmetics, kitchen gadgets, paper products, and a
host of others will all be imitated by other manufacturers. It would appear that for
every “original” design there will be ten copies bearing different labels. The very
presence of a replica signifies the existence of the “real McCoy”.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God without error and can never cease to exist. But,
like every other original design, the Bible has plenty of counterfeits. We must ask
ourselves, “Are there many versions of what God has really said?” And, if so, “If they
disagree with one another, can they really be trusted in life?” Is it not possible to
change the truth of God into a fabrication simply by a process of imitation? Who would
be behind such a manufacturing of deceit? Who indeed! Christ reveals this villainous
imposter as “the devil” saying that “he was a murderer from the beginning, and
abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44). If the purchase of
lesser quality products has taught consumers anything, it is that “you always get what
you pay for.” Are we to base our life and eternity on a cheap, incomplete and imperfect
imitation of Scripture just because they are new? Or, shall we stick with that
translation of God’s Word that has been tried by tribulation, has had more believers
give their life in order to own a copy of it, has been responsible for more national
revivals and has witnessed more conversions to Christ since being put into the English
language? As for me, dear friend, I will stay with “ole’ Reliable”–the King James
Bible!
